Spiaggia di San Michele near Sirolo is one of the most beautiful beaches in Le Marche. This beautiful long beach, sandwiched between crystal clear waters and white cliffs are covered in the Mediterranean macchia (bushes) and is a favorite of surfers when the maestral winds come in.
Discover Spiaggia di San Michele
Spiaggia di San Michele is located north of Sirolo. You can park your car in Sirolo in one of the many parking spaces (this one for example). From there you have two choices: either go on foot or take the navetta (shuttle bus). If you go on foot walk from the parking lot to Via Giulietti and enter the park Parco della Repubblica. From there follow the signage number 304.
It is a steep descent that mainly goes through a pine forest from which you have a nice view of the Adriatic Sea. It’s really worth it! If you do not want to go by foot but by bus, check the website of the Riviera del Conero where all the bus times are listed. We found the whole thing a bit confusing so we always tend to just walk.
Tip: The path down to the beach can be very steep and rocky, so you should wear closed shoes to protect your feet. We do not recommend going barefoot or wearing sandals, as you might hurt yourself.
On the beach there are several lidos and bars. We ourselves rent sunbeds at Da Silvio or Da Roberto. At the bars you can order freshly made sandwiches, salads, sushi, poké bowls and much more, together with a delicious cold beer or glass of wine.
For lunch we always treat ourselves to a deliscious fish lunch at Da Silvio. The restaurant is located just above the beach in a lovely wood structure sorrounded by pine trees. We love the view of the sea and the breeze that comes from the windows. It’s always a treat to eat there. If you plan to go there during July or August book in advance!
Do you also want to be active? You can rent a sup or kayak on the beach (see here).
Tip: A small warning for the beaches on the Conero: as these beaches are at the foot of a mountain, it is recommended to wear water shoes. This way you won’t get hurt by the rocks and stones that pop up here and there. The beaches here are in the shade from about four in the afternoon, when the sun disappears behind Monte Conero.
A lot of information about the beaches in this area can be found on the special website of the Riviera del Conero.
Discover charming Sirolo
After a day spent at the beach it is also nice to walk into Sirolo for an aperativo in the square with a view over the Adriatic Sea.
Sirolo is a beautiful village located high on a mountain. From the mountain you have a beautiful view over the azure blue sea. This medieval village with its narrow streets and cobbled courtyards is beautiful. The Piazza Vitorio Veneto gives you that holiday feeling, with its cozy bars and restaurants and beautiful sea views. This Piazza is opposite the Chiesa San Nicòlo e del Rosario. It is recognizable by its white tower and the Teatro Comunale.
Tip: Sirolo has many seafood restaurants, of which Trattoria Osteria Sara is one of the favourites. The Italians themselves visit Sirolo on weekends or during their holidays because of its beautiful houses, streets and views of the Adriatic Sea. In August it is pleasantly busy in this well-known seaside resort. For some deliscious gelato try out Manente Gelateria Sirolo!
